A Drink of Green takes the reader on the spiritual and physical journey of a young woman who grows up in New York only to find that the city itself is a harm to her mental and chemical well being. Along the way, we are privy to a love story of pure intention in a time when the cordiality of courtship was beginning to be forgotten.
The story is divided between the experience of the protagonist, Latkes Linguini (or Lottie), as an adult losing her husband, and her journey of maturation, where she faces the cultural divide of her Jewish-Italian family, the sexual pressures of puberty, and the discovery of Yoga and organic eating that change her views of the world forever. The stories link up in a climatic finish that culminates in the end of one life, and the beginning of another.
Riddled with tragedy, romance, confusion and self-discovery, A Drink Of Green challenges the contemporary view of how one should live, and begs the question What constitutes a truly healthy life?
